Once There Was A Lttle Girl
Who Didn't Have Very Much
Sorely Missing Her Mothers Love
And...Kind And Gentle Touch

She Never Had A Home
One Like You And I Know
She Lived In A Little Hut
That Let In The Rain And Snow

Her Daddy Worked In The Coal Mines
Owing His Soul To The Company Store
Barely Remembering Her Mothers Face
Who Died...When She Was Four

Her Daddy Was A Gruff Man
Stern And So Very Cold
She Was Never Shown Love By Him
At Least That's What I'm Told

She Used To Roam The Streets At Day
Holding Her Rag Doll Tight
And When It Was Time To go To Sleep
She'd Hug It Through The Night

She Rarely Saw Her Daddy
When She Did She'd Smile Real Wide
He'd Never Show Her Any Love
Always Brushing Her..Aside

The Little Girl Was Lonely
Except For That Doll...She Kept Near
It's Said People Saw Her Now And Then
Sometimes..Brushing Away A Tear

She Never Played With Others
She Said She Wished She Knew
How To Find..Mommy In Heaven
So She Could Be There Too

Her Mommy Used To Teach Her
How To Pray To God Each Day
But She Forgot Most Of The Words
And Just Didn't Know What To Say

The Heavy Winter Snows Came
Her Dad Was Seen No More
Sometimes People Would See Her
Watching For Him...At The Door

Someone Heard Her Tell Her Rag Doll
From The Yard Of the House Behind
That They Were Going To Go To Heaven
For Her Mommy..She Would Find

Winter Was Long, And Almost Past
People Wondered About That Little Girl
Questioning When They Had Seen Her Last
Their Worried Thoughts..Began To Swirl

Fear Clutching, They Went To Her House,
Slowly Peeking In, Through The Door
They Found The Lonely Little Girl
  Lying On The Cement Floor

Her Body Was So Very Cold, As
She Hugged Her Rag Doll Tight
A Smile Upon Her Face..Was Proof
She Had Found Her Mommy That Night

Please Don't Ask Why I Wrote This Poem
It Is Fiction...Maybe It's Because Of
The Abuse In The World That We
Aren't Aware Of..I Just Felt Compelled
To Write This Piece With The Hopes
That We Become 'More Aware' And Try
To Do Something To Help Children In
   These Types Of Situations
That Are 'So Real' To Them

I Hope This Poem
    Is Not Offensive To Anyone.JJK
