.Ariel was born on May 15 1994.
She's the youngest of 5 and the
only girl. She was 6 lbs 3oz. and
was 3 weeks premature.
She was a very pretty baby
with a head full of black hair.
Even though she was only 3 weeks
premature she had a lot of
serious problems at birth.
She went into respiratory arrest
and it took them 8 hours to stabilize her.
She spent a week in Intensive care
and was fine after that.
I started noticing other problems
with her around reading age and
just thought she was a slow learner.
By the age of 9 Ariel still couldn't read,
so I sent her to a private tutor for
a year all to no avail, plus I had used
numerous reading programs myself
without success. I then started noticing
she didn't seem to understand me
and took her to Speech, Language & Learning
to have her tested. I was astounded to find
out she was moderate to severely delayed in all
areas of language and comprehension.
During this time there was also a lot of
weird medical symptoms going on.
Osteomyelitis in her spine, swelling out of
nowhere, difficulty swallowing, low grade
temps all the time, stomach problems.
We had been to countless doctors
and specialists and were starting to
get treated like hypochondriacs.
With the help of our speech therapist
we pushed for a Neurological examination,
because I started noticing even further
decline in Ariel. She no longer knew her
shapes and very preschool type
concepts became very difficult for her.
The Neuro ordered tons of tests
and to this day we are still in the
process of trying to figure things out.
What we do know now is that her E.E.G shows
seizure activity and that she is most likely
Epileptic like her brother. She has significant
disability and is now profoundly delayed
in all areas of language and comprehension.
She also has low pressure in her esophagus,
G.E.R.D and lactose intolerance.
We are happy to be finally
getting answers for her.
Please pray for our daughter.
God bless, Linn
