Nicole was born with necrotizing entercolitis
although it usually happens to premature babies
Nicole was full term and weighed 7lbs 12 1/2 oz
Nicole was operated on shortly after birth
at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville Pa.
where the doctors told us that Nicole was born
with an obstructed bowel and would need immediate surgery,
ten days later the bowel malrotated again and she was also
bleeding internally she was left with 10 to 15 centimeters
of bowel there wasn't enough bowel left for her to digest any
food so she had to be fed TPN which stands for
total parental nutrition which is fed to her through a
central line IV in some cases people can be on TPN all
their life and it doesnt affect the liver in Nicoles case by
the time Nicole was 8 months old she had end
stage liver disease and was on the transplant waiting list
from the time Nicole was 8 months old she wasnt allowed
to leave the hospital because she had a condition
called portal hypertension where she would bleed out and
hemmorage when Nicole was 13 months old she
received a triple transplant of liver small bowel
and pancreas she also has a spleenectomy that operation
was done in Omaha Nebraska at University Hospital
Nicole is 7 and has just had 2 more surgeries in the last 2 months
keeping my fingers crossed they are the last
